A note from the composer:

I was inspired to write this very simple and accessible piece of music after receiving news from CMP requesting secular choral works about nature. A postcard with a Lord Byron quote on it had been sitting on my desk for some time, and I felt it deserved a musical setting. I soon realised that the piece needed an additional verse, so I decided to create my own to complement the theme. The piano writing is deliberately straightforward, not too challenging, and the vocal forces (SAB/SSA) and ranges are appropriate for community and youth choirs. The message to protect all of nature’s beauty and wonder, and the music found within it, would chime perfectly in climate-themed choral programmes.

Amy Bebbington

"Our upper voice choir of sixteen singers really enjoyed singing this beautifully flowing gem of a piece. The melodic lines capture the joyful essence of the words and are satisfying to sing with interest in all three parts. The piano accompaniment is supportive throughout whilst adding a richness of its own.  A great addition to the repertoire and also available in an equally successful SATB version."

Jane Hampson, Bolton, UK

"We programmed 'An Echo of the Spheres' last year, and it was the perfect addition to our program. Its lush harmonic movement and fantastically balanced part-writing complement the text to highlight its empowering messages. It was an audience favourite for sure! Amy’s intuitive and insightful compositional voice made it both enjoyable and inspiring to teach, learn, and perform."
